The annual accounts for 2011 were approved during the meeting, and upcoming activities organised by SICF were also discussed
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation hosted the IX Board meeting of the Foundation, presided over by Antonio Escámez, at Torres Ágora on May 17.
At the meeting, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Gonzalo de Benito; the Director General for North America and Asia-Pacific, Ernesto de Zulueta; the Managing Director of Casa Asia, Ramón María Moreno; the Director General for Cultural Policies and Book Industries, Teresa Lizaranzu; the Presiding Councillor for Fuencarral-El Pardo district on behalf of Madrid City Council, José Antonio González; the Presiding Councillor for Chamberí district, Pedro Corral and the Director of Business Participation and International Strategy at Madrid City Council, Beatriz Ballesteros, accepted their new positions on the Board.
The annual accounts for 2011 were approved and a brief overview was given of the Foundation’s recent activities, including the XVII Summit and Technology Platform held in Delhi with Spain as Partner Country, the visits by Indian ministers to Spain, the Universe Tagore event and Hay Festival, as well as the Indian Observatory. The Foundation’s participation in the Spain-India Tribune in Delhi on March 20-22, 2012 was also highlighted.
Some of the more imminent activities scheduled by the Foundation were mentioned during this meeting, such as the I Edition of the Spain India Council Foundation Award, which will be presided over by the Queen of Spain and take place in Valencia on May 26. The Indian Leaders Programme, to begin on May 28, and the II Spain-India Fashion Event, to take place on June 11-13, were also highlighted.
In the more medium term, certain key issues for the second half of the year were discussed, including the curriculum of Escuela de la India and the high-profile visits by the Indian Government scheduled for 2012.
