The event was organised by SICF and Elcano Royal Institute
After the recent general elections in India, the country is now preparing for the changes to be implemented by the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, which came to power with an absolute majority. The government, led by charismatic 63-year-old Narendra Modi, hopes to improve macroeconomic stability, continue with socio-economic progress and tackle the main political challenges.
A breakfast event was organised jointly by the Spain India Council Foundation and Elcano Royal Institute to analyse this new scenario, the opportunities it offers and the challenges it poses. This was a private event, attended only by SICF patrons. SICF Chairman Antonio Escámez offered a detailed analysis, and the new framework for bilateral relations was discussed by Emilio Lamo de Espinosa, President of Elcano Royal Institute; Ernesto de Zulueta, Director General for North America and Asia-Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Sunil Lal, Ambassador of India to Spain and Rubén Campos, a partner of Elcano Royal Institute.
Elcano Royal Institute is a think-tank for international and strategic studies which analyses the world from a Spanish, European and global perspective. It was created in 2001 as a private foundation with the Prince of Asturias as President of Honour.
