Our patron, Casa de la India, in collaboration with the Embassy of India, the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance, Veranos de la Villa, and the Siglo Foundation for Tourism and the Arts of Castile and León, and with the support of the Indian Council on Cultural Relations (ICCR), is organizing a tour of Spain by one of India's leading classical dancers.
Malavika Sarukkai, an Indian classical dancer and choreographer specializing in Bharatanatyam, and recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (National Academy of Performing Arts of India) and the Padma Shri Award, India's fourth highest civilian honor, arrives in Spain with two of her most successful works: "Ritu-Estaciones" (Ritu-Seasons), a choreographic evocation of the six seasons of Indian tradition, and "Beeja-Seed of the Earth," an affirmation of the beauty and generosity of planet Earth, as well as a call to action for humanity.
The artist will perform on July 9th at the La Chumbera Municipal Auditorium in Granada, as part of the FEX Granada festival. Subsequently, from July 10th to 12th, Malavika Sarukkai will be in Madrid as part of the Veranos de la Villa cultural event. On the 10th, she will give a masterclass at the Conde Duque Contemporary Culture Center. On the 11th and 12th, at the same venue, she will present the show "Beeja-Seed of the Earth."
Finally, on July 14th, the Indian artist will arrive in Valladolid with her work "Ritu-Seasons," at the Experimental Hall of the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center.
