The Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, met with representatives of the festival during his visit to India
The 57th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI Goa), to be held next November, will feature Spain as its Guest Country within the framework of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026. This was agreed upon by the Spanish Minister of Culture, Ernest Uetasun, during a meeting with festival representatives held in New Delhi.
IFFI Goa is the oldest and leading film festival in Asia, bringing together the audiovisual sector from more than 80 countries worldwide. According to the Ministry of Culture, Spain's presence will reinforce the country's position as a European hub for film production and filming. To promote Spanish participation in the event, a delegation of industry professionals will travel to Goa to develop a program of events and screenings, as well as to participate in professional forums and business meetings.
The Ministry of Culture, through the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), has developed a comprehensive internationalization strategy in recent years. Spain's participation in IFFI 2026 is part of this strategy, as well as the celebration of the Spain-India Dual Year, dedicated to Culture, Tourism, and Artificial Intelligence.
During his visit to India, Ernest Urtasun participated in the opening of the New Delhi International Book Fair, the first of the activities planned for this Dual Year. The minister also met with his Indian counterpart, Gajendra Singh Shekhawar, to discuss the Dual Year, which will feature a full program of activities in both countries and will serve to expand cultural ties, promote cooperation, and strengthen exchange programs.
