It allowed the future diplomats to gain first-hand insight into the value of the work carried out by the FCEI in strengthening relations with India and in promoting an active and strategic public diplomacy
The Spain-India Council Foundation (FCEI) took part on Thursday, 27 November, at the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, in a double session on India addressed to the newest cohort of diplomats currently undergoing training.
The day began with an address by the Ambassador of India to Spain, Shri Jayant N. Khobragade, who provided the new diplomats with an overview of India, outlining its political and economic evolution, its strategic priorities, and the country’s growing relevance on the international stage.
The second segment, focused on public diplomacy and bilateral cooperation, featured the participation of the FCEI’s Secretary-General, María Victoria González Román, and the Director of the Spain-India Council Foundation, Berta Fuertes. They presented the institution’s mission, lines of work and programmes, highlighting its role as a platform for strengthening relations between Spain and India across institutional, economic, academic and cultural spheres.
The session also included a contribution from Carmen Bedoya, Coordinator of the Economy and Business Department at Casa Asia Madrid, who outlined the work carried out by this institution—also linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation—in the fields of public diplomacy, cooperation with Asia and Spain’s external projection in the region.
This meeting allowed future diplomats to gain first-hand insight into the valuable work undertaken by both institutions to deepen relations with India and to promote an active and strategic public diplomacy.
