The University of Salamanca opens an office at the University of Chandigarh, in India

Its aim is to attract undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to complete their academic training in the classrooms of Salamanca, primarily in English-speaking degrees

The University of Salamanca (USAL) recently opened an office in India, specifically at Chandigarh University in the Punjab region. The new office aims to attract undergraduate and graduate students from the Indian institution who wish to complete their academic studies in Spain.

The opening was attended by Matilde Olarte, Vice-Rector for Culture, Heritage, Sustainability, and Campus Development at USAL, during an institutional visit to the Asian country coinciding with the International Education Fair 2025, held at Chandigarh University. "The University of Salamanca offers a compelling alternative to the four most popular traditional educational destinations in India: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia," the Vice-Rector stated.

Founded just 13 years ago and privately run, Chandigarh University has quickly risen to 575th place in the QS World University Rankings 2026, with over 14,700 published articles. It also ranks seventh among India's top 25 young universities and tenth among the country's top 50 private state universities. It is, therefore, a rapidly expanding university, with new campuses under development and construction, and a strong commitment to internationalization.

More information is available on the USAL website.
