The Real Madrid Foundation visits its socio-sports projects in India

Currently, 600 boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 15 participate in these schools, with a significant female presence reaching 50%

Last month, the Real Madrid Foundation conducted a follow-up visit to its socio-sports projects in Trichy, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, to assess the impact of the program it has been running since the 2012-13 season in partnership with the Esperanza y Alegría Foundation and local partner TMSSS. The delegation visited the six socio-sports schools that are part of this initiative, which focuses on improving the quality of life of vulnerable children through sport, education, and social support.

The purpose of the Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sports projects in Trichy is to improve the quality of life of children in rural areas marked by social and economic vulnerability. This is achieved through football training, academic support, and comprehensive monitoring that includes medical check-ups, food distribution, and awareness campaigns promoting healthy habits. During their visit, the Foundation team was able to see firsthand the program's progress, the changes perceived by the community, and areas for improvement. Currently, 600 children between the ages of 12 and 15 participate in these schools, with 50% being female—a particularly significant figure in a context where girls often face greater barriers to accessing sports.

The follow-up confirms notable improvements in the physical and emotional well-being of the participants. Families highlight that the children are now more active, have reduced sedentary behavior associated with mobile phone use, and show greater awareness of healthy habits. For many girls, the program has brought about a profound change in their daily routine, incorporating sports and self-care into spaces where household chores previously predominated. Furthermore, the coaches have observed improvements in social skills, communication, and the ability to express emotions. The children interviewed themselves agree that the project has transformed the way they interact, emphasizing socialization and mutual support.

The visit confirmed how this socio-sports model, which combines sports, education, health, and social support, has become established as an effective tool for transformation and human development.
