The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strengthens its political relationship with India

Spain sees India as one of its key partners, with whom it shares a firm commitment to multilateralism and international law

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Diego Martínez Belío, visited India as part of an Asian tour to hold political consultations with his counterparts.

In India, the Secretary of State held political consultations in New Delhi with the Indian Secretary of State for Western Affairs, Sibi George. Together they discussed the state of bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as other regional and global issues. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting served to strengthen cooperation in the political, economic, and technological spheres, with a view to the celebration of the Spain-India Dual Year in 2026.

During his visit to India, Diego Martínez Belío also had the opportunity to meet with Indian experts in the fields of international relations and security.

For the Ministry, this meeting underscores that India is a key partner for Spain, with whom our country shares a firm commitment to multilateralism and international law.
