The participants in SICF’s Leaders Programme visited the Sagrada Familia, and had the chance to admire the originality and sheer size of Antonio Gaudí’s masterpiece

On their first day in Barcelona, the Leaders visited some of the city’s main tourist attractions. Among other things, they took a guided tour of the Sagrada Familia and learned about its history. The project was originally conceived by architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and the first stone was laid in 1882. Later on, Antonio Gaudí was put in charge of the works and gave it an entirely new twist. The Sagrada Familia has been in the making ever since, and although there are tours of the grounds, it will not be finished until 2026.

The Leaders saw both the Passion and Nativity façades and visited the inside of the temple, the school for the workers’ children and the museum, where they learned about the scale of this unique masterpiece.
