Garrigues will advise the Spain-India Council Foundation.
The Spain-India Council Foundation and Garrigues signed a collaboration agreement today, by virtue of which the law firm will provide legal advice to the foundation, as well as to the Spanish investors that turn to this institution for aid in carrying out projects in India.
The agreement was signed at the law firm's headquarters at calle Hermosilla by Antonio Garrigues, the president of the firm, and Antonio Escámez, the president of the Spain-India Council Foundation.
The Spain-India Council Foundation was established on January 27, 2009 by various public and private organizations, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its aim is to develop bilateral relations and encourage cooperation between Spain and India in the scientific, cultural, academic, research, and environmental protection sectors, as well as to promote economic, trade and business development.
The relationship between Garrigues and the Spain-India Council Foundation began shortly after the latter was established, when the firm joined the board of the institution in mid-2009 along with other leading Spanish companies. "As part of Garrigues' clear-cut international commitment, this agreement represents another step towards supporting the Indian market and providing a practical and innovative service for businessmen", explained Sergio Sánchez Solé, who is responsible for the firm's Indian Desk.
The Indian Desk team consists of professionals with varied experience who advise companies that are interested in establishing a presence in India. As well as covering the whole of Spain, the Indian Desk is also established at Garrigues branches in Portugal and China.
