Manuel Cacho, Secretary General of the Council Foundation, met with Indian experts and institutions
During King Juan Carlos I of Spain’s two-day official visit to India, the Secretary General of the Spain India Council Foundation, Manuel Cacho, attended several meetings. On the occasion of the India-Spain Multilateral Partnership organised by ICEX, on October 26 Manuel Cacho met with representatives of the Indian trade associations ASSOCHAM, FICCI and CII. These associations invited an exclusive group of Indian and Spanish businesspeople to a lunch which was presided over by King Juan Carlos I of Spain and the Indian Ministers for Trade, Anand Sharma, and Renewable Energies, Farooq Abdullah.
Manuel Cacho also met with K. C. Sivaramakrishnan, Chairman of the Centre for Policy Research (CPR India). Cacho and Sivaramakrishnan discussed the role that Spain must play in India as a point of liaison with Latin America. Spain is well-positioned to become an ally to India thanks to its strong institutional and business footprint, which could afford synergies can be sought with Indian companies. The two institutions agreed to work in projects to bring their civil societies together in the future.
SICF’s Secretary General also met with Amit Kumar, an expert in renewable energies and Head of the Energy-Environment Technology Development at TERI. During the meeting, they appeared to be keen on the implantation of Spanish renewable energy companies in India and emphasised the importance of companies such as Gamesa and Abengoa, which already operate there.
