Framed within the activities of the Dual Year of India and Spain, it featured the participation of experts, companies and institutions from both countries
The India-Spain seminar "AI and Engineering Driving Responsible Innovation" brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts in Barcelona to explore how artificial intelligence can drive excellence in engineering and other fields while remaining reliable, transparent, and socially responsible.
This event, part of the India-Spain Dual Year agenda, was organized by our sponsor Casa Asia and HCL Tech, with the collaboration of the Consulate of India in Barcelona, Acció, Tech Barcelona, La Caixa, and the Spain-India Council Foundation.
The event featured presentations by, among others, digital health expert Karthik Adapa; HCL Technologies Vice President Sanjoy Ghosh; Joan Rosás, Director of International Relations at CaixaBank; researcher Nayana Prakash; chemical engineer Lakshmi Vaideeswaran; and Xabi Esplugas, Vice President of ITS Group Functions Solutions at DHL.
The closing remarks were delivered by José Eugenio Salarich, Director of International Relations at Acciona, representing the presidency of the Spain-India Council Foundation. In his address, Salarich stated that "artificial intelligence is no longer a promise of the future. It is a reality that is already shaping how we design, how we produce, and how we make decisions." He added that "if we approach it correctly, artificial intelligence can become one of the most powerful tools we have ever had to address real challenges, from energy efficiency and sustainability to healthcare and how we design and manage our cities."
Regarding the Spain-India Dual Year 2026, he considered it "a practical opportunity: an invitation to collaborate meaningfully. Spain brings experience, execution capabilities, and a solid vision for sustainability. India brings scale, digital talent, and extraordinary speed. And when these strengths come together, the potential is truly significant."
