In line with previous years, the programme included activities linked to Indian culture
This year’s edition of the Festival, which took place from September 26-29, paid special attention to the celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Spain and China. Hay Festival, which has become a cultural landmark in Segovia, is a meeting point for renowned national and international artists to participate in activities around literature, science, journalism, cinema, music and other artistic disciplines.
This year, Indian culture was present through several activities. Casa de la India in Valladolid hosted a tribute to Tagore to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his Nobel prize, screening ‘Jeevan Smriti’ by Rituparno Ghosh. The event was attended by the Indian film-maker and writer Sangeeta Datta. In addition, Indian author, master and poet H. S. Shivaprakash performed a reading of some of his poems written in Karnatakan, a language from Kannada. These activities were co-hosted by the Spain India Council Foundation, which has once again underscored its firm commitment to promoting Indian culture in Spain.
