It consisted of three functions that achieved the visibility and prominence that was intended. The institutional presentation took place in the home gardens of the Spanish Ambassador, Ion de la Riva, in New Delhi and was attended by over four hundred people involved in Indian politics, business and culture.
As well as the Ambassador, the Secretary of State for Energy, Pedro Marín, was also present representing the Spanish government, and proclaimed the government's support of the Foundation and their activities as a tool for representing civil society within the framework of general foreign policy on India.
A second function, also of great importance, took place the following day at a working lunch attended by over one hundred Indian and Spanish business people, who were taking part in the DIREC Energy Conference 2010. The event was well attended and the Secretary of State for Energy was also present.
Both events, which were preceded by a cultural fusion show of flamenco with music and dance from Rajasthan, provided the opportunity to officially launch the Foundation in close contact with many Indian authorities and important business people from the most varied sectors involved in our bilateral relations with India. The initiative was well received by them and they expressed genuine interest in taking part in the Foundation's projects.
Representatives of Barcelona City Government were kind enough to invite the Foundation to sign a collaboration agreement between the city and the Governor of New Delhi, paving the way to future links between the two municipal governments.
The President of the Foundation, Antonio Escámez, was in close contact with the Secretary of State, who provided very positive feedback on his meeting with the Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Farooq Abdullah, at the breakfast the Foundation organized in Madrid in June 2010.
The Foundation wishes to emphasize the great help that the Embassy and, in particular, the Trade Office provided, for which we are very thankful and without which it would have been very difficult to carry out this presentation.
