IE University (as main sponsor), Antonio Garrigues and other patrons of the Spain India Council Foundation collaborated in this event
In September, when Hay Festival takes place, Segovia becomes a meeting point and a hub for discussion and debate around literature, arts, journalism, science and thought. Authors and artists from all over the globe meet in this city year after year to share their knowledge and thoughts with the audience.
IE University participates actively in the Festival as academic partner and sponsor, organising meet-and-greets with experts from all fields, sponsoring the press office and encouraging its international students to participate as volunteers.
One of these sponsored activities, which is also backed by the Spain India Council Foundation, will take place on September 22 under the title ‘Voces libres’. Antonio Garrigues Walker, SICF patron, lawyer, intellectual and a great supporter of humanitarian causes, Raja Mohan, an Indian expert in international relations and globalisation, and Javier Moreno, Chief Editor of El País, will talk about the globalised world we live in at an event presented by Santiago Íñiguez, President of IE University.
After the event, an exhibition will be opened at the Alhóndiga. ‘Satyajit Ray: meditaciones sobre India’ is dedicated to the Indian film-maker, who is one of the greatest Bollywood artists of the 20th century.
Other activities related to India and its culture will also be taking place during Hay Festival, which will be backed the Embassy of India to Spain, Casa de la India (also a SICF patron) and the Foundation itself, among others. On September 25 and 26 there will be meet-and-greets with Meenakshi Gopinath, Head of Lady Shri Ram University; on September 29 Guillermo Rodríguez, Director of Casa de la India, will be talking to Suresh Kohli, author of a documentary film about Indian novel entitled ‘Magic realism & after: Indian English fiction (1981-2011)’; and on September 29, the documentary ‘Rabindranath Tagore’ by Satyajit Ray will be screened.
