Once again, the Ministry of External Affairs and Cooperation’s commitment to the Spain India Council Foundation was clearly evidenced by the presence of Ignacio Ybáñez, Secretary of State for External Affairs, Fidel Sendagorta, Director General for North America and Javier Sangro, Asia-Pacific and Director General for International Economic Relations, at SICF's Board meeting.
The meeting was attended by representatives of patron companies and organisations, who had the chance to evaluate the Foundation's activities in the first half of the year, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations between Spain and India. There was a special focus on the 5th Edition of the Indian Leaders Programme, and the activity report for the programme was presented at the meeting.
For the second half of the year, the Foundation organised the 3rd SICF Award, presented jointly to film-makers Zoya Akhtar and Carlos Saura. The award ceremony took place on July 12 and was attended by Queen Letizia of Spain at the Anthropology Museum before a group of prestigious representatives of Spanish civil society.
The 2nd Spain India Forum is also expected to take place in the last quarter of the year under the slogan “Re-energising bilateral relations”. This Forum comes on the back of the highly successful first edition held in 2014 and seeks to promote institutional dialogue, boost bilateral collaboration and foster business exchanges between the two countries.
SICF Chairman Antonio Escámez reminded the Patrons of the Foundation's efforts to organise and enable meetings in all areas of interest between its members and Indian experts. Mr Escámez also thanked them for their collaboration and proposals to identify new opportunities to open up new pathways for the Foundation to strengthen bilateral relations.
