SembrAI 2026 brings Spain and India together around artificial intelligence in the agri-food sector

The International Congress on Artificial Intelligence Applied to the Agri-Food Chain is being held as part of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026, with Her Majesty Queen Letizia as President of the Honorary Committee

Córdoba will host the fourth edition of the International Congress on Artificial Intelligence Applied to the Agri-Food Chain, SembrAI 2026, on 21 and 22 September. This year, India will be the Guest Country of Honour, with the event forming part of the programme of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026. The congress will be held at the Rectorate of the University of Córdoba.

Under the theme “Intelligence that Feeds Tomorrow”, the congress will bring together professionals, researchers, institutions, companies and startups to explore the potential of artificial intelligence to transform the agri-food chain. After attracting more than 1,000 attendees in 2025, the organisers expect around 2,000 professionals to take part in this year’s edition.

Her Majesty Queen Letizia is President of the Honorary Committee of SembrAI 2026, which brings together prominent national, regional and local authorities. Its members include the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno Bonilla; the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas; the Ambassador of India to Spain, Jayant N. Khobragade; the Regional Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco; the Rector of the University of Córdoba, Manuel Torralbo; the President of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Salvador Fuentes; and the Mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido. Her Majesty the Queen’s acceptance of the Honorary Presidency does not imply her attendance at the event.

India’s participation will have a particularly prominent role through the India AI Agrifood 10 programme, designed to foster collaboration between the agri-food and technology ecosystems of India, Spain and Europe. The initiative includes the participation of Indian experts, an India Pavilion at ExpoSembrAI, and ten startups selected by Startup India/DPIIT, a Government of India initiative aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Over the two days, the programme will address topics including precision agriculture, agricultural robotics, the use of drones, food security, sustainability and the application of artificial intelligence across the different stages of the agri-food chain. SembrAI 2026 will feature a total of 21 sessions, with representatives from the scientific, technological and business communities.

One of the main new features of this fourth edition will be ExpoSembrAI 2026, the congress’s first dedicated exhibition area. Covering 600 square metres outside the Rectorate of the University of Córdoba, it will bring together science, technology and investment, alongside demonstrations of prototypes, machinery and robots, reinforcing the event’s practical and business-oriented dimension.

An activity within the framework of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026

India’s selection as Guest Country of Honour takes on particular significance in the context of the Spain-India Dual Year 2026, in which Artificial Intelligence, together with Culture and Tourism, is one of the three main pillars. The bilateral initiative coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Spain and India and seeks to strengthen strategic, economic, cultural and technological cooperation between the two countries.

The agri-food sector has also become part of this bilateral agenda. The Spain-India Council Foundation has previously highlighted the potential for cooperation between the two countries in areas such as food security, agricultural innovation and sustainability, and has identified SembrAI 2026 as one of the key events contributing to this cooperation during the Dual Year.

With India’s participation, SembrAI 2026 aims to become a platform for connecting institutions, scientific knowledge, companies, startups and investment, fostering new opportunities for cooperation between India, Spain and Europe around the application of artificial intelligence to a sector of strategic importance to both economies.
